Recovery Mode is a 24-hour recovery companion for injection days. Designed for people managing chronic illness through subcutaneous injection medication. Some days are harder than others with medication, so Recovery Mode doesn't ask too much of you. Instead, it shows up gently, checks in with care, and offers small moments of support throughout the day, meeting users exactly where they are without adding pressure or overwhelm.
The Problem
Adults aged 18–25 living with chronic illness often rely on routine subcutaneous injection medications that cause predictable, next-day side effects leaving them with reduced physical and cognitive capacity. Yet traditional wellness apps are built for high-agency moments, requiring active decisions and effort on the days users have the least to give.
Recovery Mode exists to remove that burden. Rather than an app users have to navigate, it's a temporary, state-based experience that activates automatically after an injection and letting the system manage pacing, reminders, and expectations so the user doesn't have to.
In-App Screen Design
In Recovery Mode, Users log the date cadence of their subcutaneous injection medication. This information is stored in the application.This information can be changed if needed. Recovery Mode sends gentle notifications throughout the day to check in on the user’s physical and cognitive capacity without creating pressure to act. Through a two low effort questions, RecoveryMode can determine a user's current physical and cognitive state.
At the end of the day, Recovery Mode provides gentle closure by recognizing that the user has made it through a recovery day. Recovery Mode is inactive until the next injection day occurs.
Logomark
The Recovery Mode logomark is composed of three hearts arranged to form the shape of a brain, representing the harmony of care and cognitive wellness. Rendered in a deep calming blue, the mark feels both nurturing and trustworthy.
