Nocturne
Client Brief: Design a visual concept rooted in a specific cultural typographic tradition. The client requested a modern interpretation that preserves the original style’s essence while appealing to a contemporary audience.
For this project, I explored the Gothic Era through the lens of blackletter typography. Known for its dense, ornate, and dramatic character, blackletter was traditionally used in medieval manuscripts and early print. My concept, Nocturne, reimagines this historical style by pairing it with vibrant neon aesthetics—merging the elegance and mystery of the Gothic era with the energy of modern nightlife. The result is a visual identity that feels both timeless and electric, where heritage and rebellion coexist.
This project also served as a practical study in Cinema 4D, where we focused on creating and rendering 3D type animations. I used this opportunity to experiment with lighting, materials, and camera movement to bring the type to life—highlighting the contrast between historic forms and modern digital expression.
